Job Opportunity: Echo Tech / Cardiac Sonographer

Location: Missoula, Montana
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day (4x10 hours), 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Hours per Week: 40 hours


Facility Overview

  • Short Term Acute Care hospital with Level II Trauma designation
  • 209 staffed beds
  • Teaching hospital environment
  • Charting system: Epic
  • Scrubs provided for sterile units (OR, ICU, ER, COVID); other units allow any color
  • Free parking available

Job Details

  • Position floats between units as needed
  • On-call required as needed
  • Weekend work required as needed
  • Expected patient ratio: 1:1
  • 48-hour shifts are not approved

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Cardiac Sonographer
  • Cardiac Sonographer experience within the last year
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Compliance & Background Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
  • Social Security Card (as applicable)
  • Background check within 90 days covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years; must be updated annually
  • E-Verify attestation required
  • Education verification required (degree related to specialty)
  • State-specific background checks as applicable
  • Minimum of 2 professional references covering at least 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting within the last 3 years
  • Employment application covering at least last 5 years of employment with explanations for any gaps or overlaps

Health & Safety Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO, indicating ability to work with or without accommodation
  • Fit mask test required for travel candidates (valid within 1 year), updated annually; may be completed onsite
  • Immunizations/vaccinations required or acceptable declinations for:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
    • Measles (Rubeola) – 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer
    • Mumps – 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer
    • Rubella – 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer
    • Varicella – 2 vaccines or positive titer
    • Hepatitis B – vaccination series or signed declination (special rules for Alaska placements)
    • Seasonal Flu vaccine during flu season or signed declination
    • COVID-19 vaccination record preferred; declinations accepted with adherence to masking policies
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months; must be updated annually
  • Drug screening: 9-panel drug screen within 12 months of start (instant tests acceptable)

Training & Competency

  • Annual completion of regulatory and specialty-specific training modules via LMS (Workramp)
  • Epic charting system training required (completion of assigned Epic modules)
  • Medication and pharmacology competency exams as applicable
  • Skills checklist updated annually for applicable units

Additional Notes

  • Float policy acknowledgment required; may be asked to float to other nearby facilities
  • Passport-style badge photo with neutral background required for badge issuance
  • Radiation badge issued by facility if applicable
  • Respiratory safety clearance required annually for respirator use (travel candidates)
  • References and work history verification required to meet credentialing standards

This position offers a dynamic acute care environment with opportunities to work across multiple units, requiring flexibility and strong clinical skills in echocardiography and cardiac sonography.
