Case Manager (Registered Nurse) - Seattle, WA (Travel/Contract)
Job Overview

Unit & Role Description
- RN Case Managers support Acute Care, ICU, Rehab, and ER units focusing on length of stay (LOS) management and complex discharge planning.
- Ideal candidates have pediatric experience with complex care coordination, utilization review exposure, and community outreach collaboration.
- Case load averages 26 patients (range 15-40), with 25-50% highly complex cases involving multi-system issues.
- Patient age groups served include neonates, infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.
- Core competencies include length of stay management, complex discharge planning, reducing readmissions, and improving safety and quality.
- Travelers receive 4 weeks of onboarding with core staff before full team integration.
- Flexibility, adaptability, and resourcefulness are essential.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Washington
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Minimum 1 year of Case Management experience, with experience within the last year
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- PALS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Utilization review exposure/experience
Preferred Experience
- Experience in children's hospital settings
- Exposure to community-clinic settings and community outreach
- Experience serving complex children and families
Health & Compliance Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year (previous exam acceptable if gap between contracts is less than 6 months)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray per facility guidelines
- Required immunizations or proof of immunity:
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (MMR)
- Varicella
- Hepatitis B (vaccine series, positive titer, or signed declination)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (accepted if given after age 11)
- Seasonal Flu vaccine or declination during flu season (Oct-Mar)
- COVID vaccine strongly recommended but not required
- Negative 9-panel drug screen within 1 year of start
- Respirator medical clearance and fit test required (fit test must be valid for entire assignment; on-site fit testing not allowed)
- Annual background checks including criminal, civil, national databases, and sanction screenings
- WA State Patrol (WSP/WATCH) search required within 12 months and rerun every 2 years
Testing & Competency Requirements
- Pediatric pharmacology competency exam (not required for Case Managers)
- Competency exam with minimum 80% score required
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required if working in PICU, CICU, NICU, or ER (not specifically required for this role)
- Skills checklists: Pediatric skills checklist required if floating to pediatric units
- Math test administered onsite (proctored) with remediation if needed; not pass/fail
- Completion of required facility-specific training modules prior to start (approx. 8 hours)
Additional Information
- Photo for badge required within 72 hours of contract signing; must be on a blue background with no hats or headwear
- Facility serves a large regional area including Washington, Alaska, Idaho, and Montana
- Travelers must be willing to admit knowledge gaps and use available resources
- Meal waiver agreement available but not required unless waiving second meal period
- Parking access provided via ID badge; public transportation encouraged
