Job Opportunity: Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) - Operating Room
Location

Job Summary
- Assist in preparing and caring for pre-operative patients.
- Prepare patient skin for surgery following hospital standards.
- Maintain aseptic techniques and monitor for breaches.
- Provide comfort and support to pre-operative patients with sensitivity to privacy.
- Transport patients to and from the Operating Room (OR).
- Position patients according to surgery type.
- Identify and care for biological specimens.
- Prepare the OR by setting up tables, instruments, and supplies based on the case type.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform direct patient care and assistance in the OR under the direction of a professional nurse.
- Proficiently scrub in at least three specialty areas (e.g., Transplants, Open Heart, Urology, Neurology, Titanium Rib, Robotics) is highly preferred.
- Establish and maintain sterile field; pass instruments and sutures to the physician.
- Use physician preference cards to pull cases and set up the OR; ensure preference cards are current and complete.
- Work effectively as a team member caring for the patient.
- Maintain a safe environment by implementing technical and aseptic practices.
- Demonstrate clinical expertise in the use and care of surgical supplies, instruments, and equipment.
- Adhere to Universal Barrier Precautions for patient and personal safety.
- Monitor and control the surgical environment, including traffic control, dress codes, and OR sanitation policies.
- Follow facility policies on decontamination, processing, and sterilization of instruments and supplies.
- Adapt patient care methods to meet population-specific and developmental needs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) with a minimum of 2 years of experience.
- Surgical Technologist experience within the last year.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- High school diploma or equivalent, or completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
