Description
Registered Nurse (RN) - Med Surg (Nights)
Location: Cedar Rapids, Iowa
Employment Type: Temporary
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Unit & Work Environment
- Unit: Stroke unit, floating between Medical Surgical and Stepdown units
- Bed size: 24
- Patient Ratios:
- Days/Evenings: 1:5
- Nights: 1:6
- Dress Code: Navy or black solid tops and bottoms
- EMR System: EPIC
- Orientation Dates: July 20, July 27
- Holiday Work Requirement: Must work 1-2 of 3 upcoming summer holidays (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day) unless the unit is closed
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Iowa
- Minimum 1 year of Medical Surgical nursing experience, with experience within the last year
- Experience caring for neurology patients
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience with Epic electronic medical record system
Preferred Certifications
- NIH Stroke Scale certificate (preferred; can be obtained during onboarding)
Work Conditions & Additional Information
- New graduate travelers are welcomed
- Float between Med Surg and Stepdown units
- Night shift
- Night shift patient ratio: 1 nurse to 6 patients
- Orientation: 16 hours
- Overtime and holiday pay multipliers apply (details not included)
- Call back and on-call pay available (details not included)
Notes
- Employee separation policy restricts past employees of the employer from working travel in other markets if they have worked there within the past 12 months

- Must be within a 50-mile radius of the facility
