Registered Nurse - Labor & Delivery

Location: Reston, Virginia
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Hours per Week: 36


Unit Information

  • Unit: Labor & Delivery (L&D)
  • Unit specifics:
    • 15 LDR rooms
    • 3 OB triage rooms
    • 3 Operating Rooms (ORs)
    • 4 bay Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)
    • 4 antepartum rooms
  • Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
  • Documentation systems: Meditech, CPNS
  • Scheduling: 12-hour shifts (7am-7pm, 7pm-7am)
  • Floating within women’s and children’s service line

Required Certifications & Licenses

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
  • Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) Fetal Heart Rate Intermediate

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Virginia
  • Labor and Delivery (2 years of experience)
  • Labor and Delivery experience within the last year
  • ACLS
  • AWHONN
  • BLS
  • NRP
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing

Experience & Skills

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as an RN in Labor & Delivery
  • Experience in a fast-paced Labor & Delivery unit required
  • Experience with scrub role and circulating in the OR is helpful
  • Ability to circulate C-sections and manage IV drips such as magnesium in high acuity settings

  • Cesarean sections (C-sections)
  • Epidurals
  • Spinals
  • Cerclage
  • Version

Additional Information

  • Blood patch procedures are rarely performed and not required
  • Hospital provides scrubs as part of dress code
  • Patient care includes labor and delivery support and high acuity maternal care
