Description
Registered Nurse (RN) - Centralized Registry Float
Location: Fort Wayne, Indiana
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights (7pm - 7am)
Hours: 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week
Weekend Requirement: 3 weekend shifts in 4 weeks
Dress Code: Caribbean Blue scrubs
Job Summary
- Provide general medical-surgical nursing care on Level 1, Level 2, or tertiary units.
- Float to other medical units as needed, focusing on areas with greatest need.
- Patient ratios typically 1:5-6.
- Care for a diverse patient population with chronic illnesses (COPD, Diabetes, CHF, ESRD), GI issues, infections, neurological conditions, and mental health disorders.
- Assist patients undergoing procedures such as colonoscopies, thoracentesis, paracentesis, bronchoscopy, and minor surgeries.
Required Qualifications
- Indiana RN license or compact RN license (effective 7/1/20).
- BLS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
- Minimum 1.5 years of experience in Level 1, Level 2, or tertiary care.
- At least 1 year of MedSurg experience at a large hospital (450+ beds).
Skills and Responsibilities
- Perform patient assessments, care planning, and inter-professional communication.
- Utilize electronic health records (Epic) and equipment including IV pumps, wound vacs, feeding pumps/tubes, chest tubes, telemetry monitoring, pyxis machines, Accucheck blood glucose monitors, Hospira IV pumps, and SCDs for VTE prevention.
- Manage IV therapy, heparin and insulin drips.
Orientation and Training
- Jump Start orientation program: 1 day general hospital orientation plus approximately 5 days nursing orientation including Epic training.
- 8 hours of non-billable orientation (not applicable for clinicians returning within 12 months).
Additional Information
- Local clinicians within 50 miles may be eligible for a rate adjustment.
- Client may cancel or call off up to 24 hours before the start of the 13-week assignment.
- Candidates should disclose any required time off during the assignment.
This position offers an opportunity to work nights in a dynamic medical-surgical environment with a variety of patient populations and procedures, supported by comprehensive orientation and training.
