Description
Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 18:45–7:15)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse
- Telemetry monitoring experience required
- Every other weekend required
- Holiday requirement: 1 summer and 1 winter holiday
- Floating: Possible float to another unit if census is low or greater need arises
- No block scheduling or on-call duties
- Charting system: EPIC
- Scrub color: Navy Blue
- First-time travelers accepted
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Pennsylvania
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required, including Med Surg / Telemetry experience
- Med Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Pass/fail testing on EKG and medication/pharmacology competency
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Unexpired government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
- Background check: 7-year criminal history including all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years; must include PA PATCH search and other state-specific checks
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required upon hire
- Education verification: Official transcript acceptable; diploma not accepted
- Fingerprinting: Pennsylvania Department of Human Services fingerprinting results required within 5 years, updated every 5 years (required for PA placements only)
- Professional references: 2 within 2 years of start date
- Work history verification as applicable
- Pennsylvania Child Abuse Search within 12 months of start (required for candidates with patient contact)
- PA PATCH search results must be uploaded separately and with background check
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 2 months of start date
- Fit test for N95 mask (3M 1870+ model) within 12 months prior to start; must be completed before start
- Current Tdap vaccine or titer required
- Negative TB test (Qgold or TSPOT) within 90 days of start; chest X-ray if positive test
- Annual TB questionnaire required
- Immunizations required (2 vaccines or positive titer, or declination/booster if negative/equivocal) for:
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (series, titer, or declination)
- Varicella
- 10-panel drug screen within 60 days prior to start (9-panel without THC acceptable)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 – Apr 1); declinations not accepted
- COVID-19 vaccine no longer required prior to start; medical/religious exemptions accepted with masking requirements
Orientation & Competency
- Completion of facility-specific education modules (~6 hours) prior to orientation
- Pass/fail basic dysrhythmia exam during orientation (one attempt only)
- Medication/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
- Signed acknowledgment of Joint Commission Safety Manual and pass/fail testing requirements
Additional Notes
- No prior travel experience required
- Floating to other units may occur but not routinely
- No on-call responsibilities
- Contract is for night shift with 36 hours per week (3x12 hour shifts)
