Description
Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Silver City, New Mexico
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Guaranteed Hours: Yes
Job Description
- Experience required in Mother-Baby and Labor & Delivery (L&D)
- Must be able to work weekends
- ASAP start date once compliant
- Proficiency with Meditech or comparable EMR preferred
- First-time travel nurses accepted
- Local candidates within 70 miles considered
- Facility is a Critical Access hospital with 25 staffed beds
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in New Mexico
- Labor and Delivery nursing experience of at least 1 year, with experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Certifications required:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring)
Compliance and Background Requirements
- 7-year criminal background check within one year of start, updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for contract renewals
- Education verification (transcript or diploma) required
- Fingerprinting required by New Mexico state; valid Social Security number mandatory before start
- Nursys verification as applicable
Health and Safety Requirements
- Initial physical exam attesting ability to meet physical demands (Qualivis requirement)
- Fit-tested N95 mask required (acceptable models include 1870+, 1860, 1860S, 8210); PAPR fittings allowed for bearded candidates
- Immunizations/vaccinations or positive titers required for:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (declinations accepted)
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer; boosters preferred per CDC guidelines)
- Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
- Negative TB test (PPD, QuantiFERON Gold, or T-spot) within 1 year or clear chest X-ray if previously positive, plus annual TB questionnaire
- 10-panel drug screen including THC/Marijuana within last 12 months; facility conducts a second drug and alcohol test at orientation
- Influenza vaccine strongly encouraged; declination accepted with mask requirement during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31)
