Description
Registered Nurse – Digestive Health Procedures
Location: Urbana, Illinois
Employment Type: Clinical Nursing
Shift: Day
Hours: 9 hours/day, 36 hours/week
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Provide professional nursing care to patients undergoing digestive health procedures. Responsibilities include patient assessment, preparation for procedures, monitoring and sedation during procedures, and care in recovery phases. Collaborate with anesthesia providers and ensure patient and staff safety while maintaining accurate documentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform initial patient assessments and develop individualized plans of care.
- Prepare patients for procedures, including starting IVs and providing education.
- Monitor and sedate patients during procedures.
- Provide care in both phase 1 and phase 2 recovery.
- Assist anesthesia providers during cases requiring anesthesia involvement.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date nursing documentation.
- Ensure patient and employee safety by identifying and addressing hazards.
- Communicate effectively with healthcare team members and provide constructive feedback.
- Engage in ongoing professional development and fulfill departmental competency requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois.
- Minimum 1 year of Med Surg nursing experience within the last year.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing.
- Experience in Endoscopy nursing.
