NICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Job - Hickory, North Carolina
Position Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (NICU Level III and/or Level IV)
- Location: Hickory, North Carolina
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Shift: Nights, 3 shifts of 12 hours (7:00 PM to 7:00 AM), minimum every other weekend (Fri-Sat-Sun)
- Schedule Flexibility: Option to flex to a 4th shift if needed/available; overtime after 48 hours
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- EMR System: Meditech experience preferred
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in North Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) experience, including experience within the last year
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
- STABLE certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID must be carried during hours of service
- Proof of E-Verify or attestation required
- Background checks including:
- 7-year criminal history check within one year of start, updated annually
- Education verification of highest degree/diploma
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
- NURSYS verification for RN license within 30 days of start
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually, attesting ability to meet physical demands
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually
- Immunizations or titers required for:
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B
- Varicella
- 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (instant acceptable)
- Seasonal flu vaccination required October 1 - April 1 (or approved exemption)
- Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations
- Completion of skills checklist annually for applicable unit
Additional Notes
- Blocked schedule requests will be considered
- Locals accepted at the same rate as travelers
- Must include a cover sheet and current NURSYS report with application
- Performance evaluations required if previously worked with the agency over 1 year
- Medication/pharmacology competency exams required as applicable, with passing scores
This position is ideal for experienced NICU RNs seeking a travel contract with night shifts in a Level III/IV NICU setting.
