Respiratory Therapist

Location: Johnson City, New York
Employment Type: Clinical-Allied
Shift: Night
Hours: 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

Provide timely, accurate, and reliable respiratory therapy services to inpatients, outpatients, staff, and affiliated community groups.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer respiratory therapy procedures including aerosol therapy, CPT/Flutter/PEP mask therapy, incentive spirometry, M.D.I. therapy, suctioning, and extubation.
• Manage oxygen therapy, BiPAP-CPAP therapy and alarms, cough assist/vest therapy, high flow cannula/humidifier therapy and alarms.
• Perform pulmonary function screening, fit testing, pulse oximetry, and adult/pediatric/neonatal EKG procedures.
• Provide Basic Life Support (BLS) for adults, pediatrics, and neonates.
• Manage mechanical ventilation and ventilator alarms.
• Perform arterial puncture and blood gas analysis, including quality control for the blood gas laboratory.
• Use patient healthcare information systems and medication administration/dispensing programs.
• Verify physician orders for pulmonary and cardiology diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
• Record and report procedure results accurately.
• Participate in departmental in-service programs and maintain departmental records.
• Assist with external patient transports as required.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Respiratory Therapist license in New York
• Respiratory Therapist with at least 1 year of experience, including experience within the last year
• Registered Respiratory Therapist credential from the NBRC
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification

Additional Information
