Registered Nurse - Progressive Care Unit (PCU)

Location: Jeffersonville, Indiana
Employment Type: Clinical Nursing
Shift: Night (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM), every other weekend
Hours: 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

As a Registered Nurse in the Progressive Care Unit, you will be responsible for providing safe, effective, patient- and family-centered care. You will assess, develop, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care while supervising licensed and non-licensed staff. The role emphasizes evidence-based practice, quality outcomes, patient education, and mentoring/precepting team members.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform patient assessments and reassessments, making sound independent clinical decisions.
• Develop, prioritize, implement, and revise plans of care in collaboration with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
• Monitor and document patient responses to clinical interventions.
• Provide and evaluate education tailored to patient and family needs during the stay and at discharge.
• Delegate tasks appropriately to licensed and non-licensed personnel.
• Mentor and precept staff, facilitate teamwork, and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Participate in quality, safety, and service process improvement initiatives and implement practice changes.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and participate in Practice Governance activities.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Indiana.
• Minimum 2 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience, including experience within the last year.
• Experience in an inpatient setting with acute care nursing.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing.
• Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS).
• Proficiency with Epic electronic health record system.
