Description

Registered Nurse - Labor & Delivery

Location: Carlsbad, New Mexico
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Days (6:30 AM – 7:00 PM), floating required
Patient Ratio: 1:1 to 1:4
Unit Beds: 1 Triage, 3 Labor, 4 Postpartum


Job Description

Provide nursing care during antepartum triage, active labor, postpartum (mother and baby), and special care nursery. Responsibilities include:

  • Managing care through the antepartum, intrapartum, immediate postpartum, and neonatal phases of obstetrical care.
  • Utilizing the Nursing Process in accordance with state Nurse Practice Act and hospital policies.
  • Demonstrating critical thinking, scientific judgment, and leadership to ensure safe delivery of care.
  • Maintaining clinical competencies through continuing education.
  • Delegating patient care priorities based on staff education and experience.
  • Providing direction and supervision to assigned personnel delivering patient care.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in New Mexico
  • Labor and Delivery (2 years of experience)
  • Labor and Delivery experience within the last year
  • ACLS
  • BLS
  • NRP
  • STABLE
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • LDRP - Labor Delivery Recovery & Postpartum experience
