Description
Registered Nurse - ICU (Travel/Contract)
Location: West Hollywood, California
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Overview
- Position is in the ICU Float Pool; will float to Med Surg, Telemetry, PCU, Overflow PACU, Stepdown, and other related units as needed.
- Night shift: 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM (3 shifts per week, 36 or 48 hours available).
- Weekend work required.
- Floating is mandatory as this is a float position.
- No scheduling requests accommodated; maximum 7 days off allowed, with no return to work within the first 2 weeks of assignment.
- EKG exam administered on the first day of orientation; passing is required to continue the contract.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in California
- Critical Care Float (2 years of experience)
- Critical Care Float experience within the last year
- ACLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NIHSS
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- PA line experience
- 400 bed or larger facility experience
- ICU - Intensive Care Unit experience
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID required.
- Background check within 6 months, including SSN trace, 7-year county residence, nationwide search, sex offender search, federal district court search, and international criminal searches if applicable.
- Highest level of education verification required.
- Physical exam within 1 year confirming ability to meet essential job functions.
- Fit test for N95 masks within 1 year, updated annually.
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year; if history of positive TB, additional documentation required.
- Immunizations/vaccinations required:
- 2 MMR vaccines or positive titers for Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella (with booster if titers negative/equivocal).
- Hepatitis B vaccine series, titer, or declination.
- 2 Varicella vaccines or positive titer (with booster or proof of disease if negative).
- Drug screening panel within 1 year (excluding Marijuana/THC).
- Seasonal flu vaccination documentation required for flu season (Nov 1 - Mar 31). Declinations not accepted.
- Two professional references required, at least one supervisory.
Orientation & Testing
- Pass/fail EKG competency assessment during orientation (proctored online or onsite exam).
- Medication test during orientation (not pass/fail).
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification check.
- Fire safety card course completed onsite during orientation.
Additional Notes
- Photo for badge must meet strict requirements (passport-style photo with centered face, bright lighting, plain background, no filters or accessories).
- Candidates must review and sign facility-specific policies including Code of Conduct, Job Hazard Analysis, Social Media Policy, and Scheduling Guidelines.
- No remote or hybrid work options indicated.
This position is ideal for experienced ICU RNs comfortable with floating across multiple critical care and stepdown units, working night shifts, and meeting strict clinical and compliance standards.
