Job Opportunity: Oncology Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Charlottesville, Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Day shift, 4x12 hour shifts (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM) or 4x10 hour shifts (8:00 AM – 6:30 PM or 9:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
- Weekend Requirement: Every 4th weekend
- Floating: May be required to float to two other local infusion centers, but unlikely
- Specialty Focus: Oncology with experience preferred in cellular therapies (stem cell/CART)
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia
- Minimum of 1 year oncology nursing experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Chemotherapy/Biotherapy certification (CHEMO)
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Certifications & Competencies
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) may be required depending on unit
- Chemotherapy/Biotherapy certification (ONS/ONCC) required
- Other certifications (PALS, NRP, TNCC, NIH Stroke, CPI) may be required or preferred based on unit assignment
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam as applicable
- Pass/Fail cardiac rhythm testing required during orientation for adult inpatient RN positions
Compliance & Screening Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID must be carried during hours of service
- Background checks including 7-year criminal history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, education verification, and abuse registry search (if assigned to certain units)
- Fingerprinting required for Behavioral Health and certain units (results must be received prior to start)
- Physical exam within 12 months attesting ability to meet physical demands of the position
- Immunizations and health screenings required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (no declinations allowed)
- 2-step TB test or equivalent (Qgold acceptable; Tspot not accepted)
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: 2 vaccines or positive titer required (no declinations for measles)
- Hepatitis B: Positive Hep B Surface Antibody titer required or negative Surface and Antigen titers within 6 months
- Varicella: 2 vaccines or titer required (declination accepted but must be documented)
- Seasonal Flu vaccination required during flu season (no exemptions or declinations accepted)
- Drug screening: 10-panel including marijuana and fentanyl, within 2 months of start and updated annually
- Professional appearance guidelines must be reviewed and acknowledged
- Fit testing required for patient-facing clinical roles, completed onsite if needed
Experience Requirements
- Registered Nurse with oncology experience; cellular therapy experience preferred
- No explicit minimum years of experience stated, but oncology specialty experience is expected
