Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Travel Position
Location: Portland, Maine
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 26 weeks (approximately 6 months)
Shift: Full Time Night Shift (7 PM – 7:30 AM)
Hours per Week: 48 hours (36 guaranteed weekend hours)
Call Requirements: Yes, approximately one call shift per month with 2-hour call coverage before shift
Job Description
- Position to replace a full-time night shift respiratory therapist
- Work schedule is based on department operational needs
- Includes working every other weekend and participating in call rotation
- Must be flexible and a team player with strong communication skills
- Facility is a tertiary, teaching hospital and level 1 trauma center
- Patient population and assignments vary daily, covering the entire facility with a team of 14-16 RRTs
Unit Information
- Department: Respiratory Therapy
- Patient Ratios:
- Acute care: 1 therapist to 25 patients
- Critical care: 1 therapist to 8 patients
- Equipment used includes: Drager V500 and VN500 ventilators, Hamilton T1 and C1, Respironics V30, V60, Trilogy line, Airvo, Vapotherm
- Electronic Medical Record system: EPIC
- Float requirements include coverage in NICU/PICU, acute care pediatrics, emergency department, adult acute and critical care
- Preferred experience with NICU/PICU and cardiothoracic patients
Required Qualifications
- Valid Respiratory Therapist license in Maine
- Respiratory Therapist (2 years of experience)
- Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
- BLS
- NRP
Additional Information
- Scrubs provided or flexible scrub color policy
- Scheduling preferences considered but only approved requested time off documented in the contract is guaranteed
- No guarantee of additional schedule requests, specific shifts, weekends off, or time off outside approved contractual requests
