Job Summary

Provide nursing care under general supervision to patients with a range of health problems from simple to complex on a medical/surgical unit. This position involves caring for post-surgical and pre-transplant patients requiring close monitoring and timely medication delivery.

Unit Details

• Med/Surg unit (no OR candidates accepted)
• Mixed stepdown (SD) and acute care floor
• Cares for post-surgical kidney, liver, and pancreas transplant patients
• Also cares for pre-transplant patients undergoing evaluation
• Not a PACU position
• Nurses may work either medical/surgical (MS) or stepdown (SD) depending on staffing and patient acuity
• ICU nurses may be floated to work SD patients based on skill set

Responsibilities

• Assume responsibility for an assigned group of patients
• Document patient responses and changes in physician orders
• Assist physicians with examinations and minor procedures
• Obtain and monitor physiological data; intervene as necessary
• Administer medications, intravenous infusions, and blood products
• Deliver competent patient care
• Communicate care plans with patients and families, including at discharge
• Inform patients and families about hospital procedures
• Make referrals for patient care needs
• Delegate tasks to support staff
• Perform other assigned duties

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Oklahoma
• Minimum 1 year of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience within the last year
• Med/Surg experience
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited program
