Description
Registered Nurse – Med/Surg / Telemetry
Location: Lebanon, Indiana
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Specialty: Medical-Surgical with Telemetry experience required
- Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (6:00 PM – 6:30 AM)
- Hours: 36 hours per week guaranteed
- Weekend Requirement: Minimum 3 weekends in a 6-week period
- Call-In Policy: If a shift is called in, the nurse must pick up another shift to compensate
- On-Call: Possibility of being placed on call
- Floating: May be required to float to other units based on hospital needs
- Patient Ratio: 1 nurse to 5 patients
- Experience Required: Minimum 1 year in specialty
- First-Time Travelers: Accepted
- Local Candidates: Accepted if within 50 miles of facility
Required Certifications
- ACLS (American Heart Association only; instructor and provider cards accepted)
- BLS (American Heart Association only)
- PALS (American Heart Association only; mandatory before start due to pediatric admissions on unit)
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
Preferred Experience
- Ambulatory care experience preferred
- Medical-Surgical experience preferred
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Indiana
- Med Surg / Telemetry experience with a minimum of 1 year, including experience within the last year
- ACLS certification
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- PALS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- NIHSS certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Facility & Work Environment
- Short Term Acute Care facility
- 78 staffed beds
- Charting system: Meditech
- Dress code: Professional appearance; scrub color is flexible
Background & Compliance Requirements
- 7-year background check including SS trace, county, nationwide, sex offender, and international criminal checks (if applicable), updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks annually
- Transcript/Diploma verification required
- Physical exam within 12 months of start, updated annually
- Fit mask test within 12 months, updated annually (3M 1860R or 1860S masks accepted; no PAPRs; facial hair restrictions apply)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, renewed annually
- Immunizations or titers required for:
- Tdap (within 10 years or declination)
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
- Varicella (titer, vaccine, history of chickenpox, or declination)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season
Additional Requirements
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam with minimum 80% passing score
- Color blindness testing required
- Annual skills checklist and competency exams as applicable
- Two professional references required
Notes
- Travelers must have PALS certification before starting due to pediatric patients on the unit
- Nurses may be required to pick up shifts if they call in sick
- Floating and on-call duties may be assigned based on unit needs
- Local nurses within 50 miles are eligible for a rate differential (pay details not included here)
This position is suitable for RNs with at least 1 year of Med/Surg experience who have telemetry skills and are comfortable working night shifts with weekend and on-call responsibilities. First-time travel nurses are welcome to apply.
