Description
Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse (Transplant)
Location
- Indianapolis, Indiana
Employment Type
- Travel / Contract
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
Specialty
- Registered Nurse – Transplant OR
- Focus on abdominal transplants: Kidney, Pancreas, Liver, Intestinal/Multi-visceral
- Pediatric transplants are excluded
Required Experience
- Minimum 2 years of strong transplant nursing experience, including kidney and liver transplant experience
- First-time travelers accepted if experience requirement is met
- Prior travel experience not required
Shift & Hours
- Day shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
- Weekends preferred
- Call requirement: 40-60 hours per 6-week period
- Float required: Yes, multi-specialty including all surgeries
- Holiday work: Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
- Guaranteed hours vary by schedule (36-48 hours per week depending on shifts)
Licensure
- Must have an active Indiana RN license, temporary license, or compact license at start
- Indiana residents are not eligible for this contract
Certifications Required
- BLS (AHA or RQI accepted)
- Regulatory Charting for Transplants
- ACLS, PALS, NRP, CHEMO, TNCC, EFM, NIH Stroke Certification may be required depending on cost center (verify with recruiter)
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement (HIPAA compliance)
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam
- Unit competency exam
- Color Blind Testing (Ishihara or equivalent, 100% score required)
Background & Compliance Requirements
- Background check within 90 days of start, including 7 years of residence/work history, SSN trace, criminal, sex offender, FACIS Level III, education verification
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
- Education verification required (may be pending at start)
- Employment application covering 7 years with explanations for gaps over 30 days
- Minimum 2 professional references from recent employment (supervisor/manager level)
- Skills checklist within 12 months, updated annually
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Fit mask test within 12 months (N95 or approved respirators)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- TB questionnaire updated annually
- Immunizations or positive titers required for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Varicella (no declinations accepted)
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months (no instant tests)
Requirements / Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Indiana
- Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including OR experience within the last year
- Transplant nursing experience
- ACLS certification
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- NRP certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
