Registered Nurse - Operating Room (RN-OR)

Location: Bakersfield, California

Hours: 10 hours/day, 40 hours/week

Job Description

• Independently provides and coordinates nursing care for acutely ill patients in the Operating Room under nurse leadership supervision.
• Performs nursing process including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of safe, therapeutic care.
• Creates a compassionate, patient-centered environment supporting mind, body, and spirit healing modalities.
• Collects and documents patient data; interprets assessment findings to identify physiological and psychosocial risks.
• Collaborates with patients, families, and healthcare team to develop and implement individualized care plans.
• Prioritizes nursing actions using clinical judgment and critical thinking.
• Establishes nursing diagnoses and revises care plans as needed.
• Responds promptly and appropriately to rapidly changing patient conditions and emergencies.
• Coordinates care activities with nurses, physicians, and advanced practice providers.
• Adheres to evidence-based practices, therapeutic standards, infection control policies, medication administration, and controlled substance regulations.
• Participates in professional development, staff meetings, and nursing governance activities.
• Maintains competencies and completes mandatory education as required.
• Complies with RN scope of practice, ANA Code of Ethics, and nursing standards.
• Demonstrates clinical knowledge and skills relevant to the patient population served.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California.
• Minimum 3 years of Operating Room (OR) nursing experience, including experience within the last year.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
• Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
