Description
Registered Nurse - Operating Room (RN-OR)
Location: Bakersfield, California
Employment Type: Clinical Nursing Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day
Hours: 10 hours/day, 40 hours/week
Job Description
- Independently provides and coordinates nursing care for acutely ill patients in the Operating Room under nurse leadership supervision.
- Performs nursing process including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of safe, therapeutic care.
- Creates a compassionate, patient-centered environment supporting mind, body, and spirit healing modalities.
- Collects and documents patient data; interprets assessment findings to identify physiological and psychosocial risks.
- Collaborates with patients, families, and healthcare team to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Prioritizes nursing actions using clinical judgment and critical thinking.
- Establishes nursing diagnoses and revises care plans as needed.
- Responds promptly and appropriately to rapidly changing patient conditions and emergencies.
- Coordinates care activities with nurses, physicians, and advanced practice providers.
- Adheres to evidence-based practices, therapeutic standards, infection control policies, medication administration, and controlled substance regulations.
- Participates in professional development, staff meetings, and nursing governance activities.
- Maintains competencies and completes mandatory education as required.
- Complies with RN scope of practice, ANA Code of Ethics, and nursing standards.
- Demonstrates clinical knowledge and skills relevant to the patient population served.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California.
- Minimum 3 years of Operating Room (OR) nursing experience, including experience within the last year.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
