Registered Nurse – Med/Surg Telemetry
Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Provide nursing care on Med/Surg Telemetry unit with potential to float to related units including Emergency Department.
- Rotating day/night shifts (7am-7:30pm and 7pm-7:30am); shift rotation may be required to meet operational needs.
- Must work at least every other holiday.
- Orientation includes ECG rhythm recognition and medication safety testing; passing scores required.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Ohio.
- Minimum 1.5 years of Med Surg / Telemetry experience.
- Med Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year.
- Current BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- Current ACLS certification.
- NIHSS Stroke Certification.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Experience in an Acute Care setting.
- Valid Driver's License.
Shift & Hours
- 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week.
- Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM (3 shifts/week)
- Day shift: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM (3 shifts/week)
- Shift rotation possible based on hospital needs.
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID (e.g., driver’s license) required and must be carried on assignment.
- Background checks including 7-year FCRA compliant search, education verification, and fingerprinting (FBI and BCI) required and must be current/updated annually.
- Physical exam within 1 year of start verifying ability to perform essential job functions; latex allergy notification required if applicable.
- Fit mask test (3M N95) within 12 months, updated annually; PAPRs require approval.
- Immunizations and health screenings required:
- Tdap vaccine every 10 years (no declinations accepted)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray with annual questionnaire if history positive
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations or positive titers with boosters if needed
- Hepatitis B vaccination/titer or declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer with booster if needed
- Annual flu vaccination (no declinations accepted; medical/religious exemptions require approval)
- Snellen eye exam within 1 year
- Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted).
Orientation & Training
- Completion of facility-specific online training modules prior to start is mandatory.
- Modules must be completed on a computer using Google Chrome; video content must be viewed before testing.
- Onboarding process may take multiple days; candidates should not delay module completion.
- Candidates returning after a break longer than 6 months may need to repeat orientation modules.
References & Work History
- Two professional references required from employment within the past year (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director).
- Employment application must include at least 3 years of prior work history, with 2 years in acute care and similar clinical area.
Additional Notes
- Fingerprinting must be completed within 48 hours of contract signing; facility will also conduct fingerprinting onsite.
- Candidates may start with fingerprint results pending if fingerprinting is completed prior to start.
- Candidates must have legal name consistency across all documents.
- Travelers must be prepared for potential shift rotation and holiday work.
- Prior travel experience is accepted but not explicitly required.
This position is ideal for experienced Med/Surg Telemetry RNs licensed in Ohio or compact states, comfortable with rotating shifts and committed to meeting rigorous compliance and certification standards.
