Description
ICU Registered Nurse - Travel/Contract
Location: San Francisco, California
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Seeking an experienced ICU Registered Nurse for a night shift travel contract position. The role involves working 3 shifts per week, each 12 hours long (7:00 PM to 7:30 AM), with weekend rotation and floating as needed. No on-call duties.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in California
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 3 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience, including experience within the last year
- ACLS certification
- BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification
Shift Details
- Night shift: 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
- 3 shifts per week (36 hours total)
- Weekend rotation required
- Floating as needed
- No on-call
Competencies & Testing
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam may be required for some telemetry units
- ICU RNs at this location must pass an onsite EKG exam after start
Facility & Compliance Requirements
- Must review and sign facility-specific documents including job description, standards of business conduct, code of conduct, vendor training, overpayment refund policy, and regulatory orientation prior to start
- TB screening questionnaire required within 90 days of start and renewed annually
- Religious exemption forms available for facial hair (PAPR) and certain vaccine requirements; exemptions considered on a case-by-case basis
- Pending background check attestation not accepted; conditional clearances require facility approval
Additional Notes
- Hard copy or documentation of professional license required if verification does not include license number
- Official transcripts/diplomas may be required if education verification is unsuccessful
- Candidates with positive TB history must have a negative chest x-ray within 1 year of start
- Failed fit tests due to facial hair require shaving and retesting; other failures require PAPR training and documentation
- Candidates must comply with all immunization and health screening requirements to maintain clearance
This position is ideal for ICU RNs with solid critical care experience seeking a travel contract in a major California city with a reputable healthcare system.
