ICU Registered Nurse - Travel/Contract
Location: San Francisco, California
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (1900 - 0730)
- Weekend rotation required
- No on-call duties
- Floating as needed
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California
- Minimum of 3 years ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience, including experience within the last year
- Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification
- Education: Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Background and Compliance Requirements
- 7-year background check including SSN trace with all aliases, county searches, nationwide sex offender search, education verification, and FACIS Level 3 screening
- EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, OFAC sanctions list, and Medi-Cal Suspended and Ineligible Provider List checks as applicable
- Education verification required; BSN preferred but not mandatory
- TB Screening Questionnaire within 90 days of start, renewed annually
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, must indicate clearance for work
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray as required, renewed annually
- Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids per CA law)
- Immunizations and titers required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (MMR)
- Hepatitis B series or declination
- Varicella
- Seasonal flu vaccination during flu season (Nov-April) or signed declination
- Fit mask test within 1 year, renewed annually (with accommodations for religious exemptions or failed tests)
- Respiratory safety clearance required, renewed annually
Documentation and Verification
- Full 7 years of work history required on application with no gaps over 30 days
- Employment verification for up to 7 years required; gaps over 1 year not accepted without approval
- Two professional references required within 3 years for clinical acute care candidates
- Primary source license verification within 30 days of start
- NURSYS verification within 30 days of start
- Official transcripts/diplomas or attestation of verification attempts required for education verification
- Various facility-specific documents and policies must be reviewed and signed prior to start (e.g., code of conduct, standards of business conduct, vendor training, dress code policy)
Additional Notes
- Candidates with religious exemptions for vaccines or facial hair must complete specific exemption forms and receive approval
- Candidates must comply with all required competency exams and medication/pharmacology tests as applicable
- ICU nurses may be required to complete telemetry competency tests depending on unit assignment
This position is ideal for experienced ICU Registered Nurses licensed in California who are comfortable working night shifts with weekend rotations and meet the comprehensive background, health, and certification requirements.
