Registered Nurse - Emergency Department

Location: Richlands, Virginia
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Weekly Hours: 36 hours
Shift: 1 night shift, 1 mid shift
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
Call Requirement: None

Unit & Patient Information

• Department: Emergency Department
• Number of Openings: 2
• Unit Beds: 16
• Typical Patient Ratio: 5:1 (may be pulled to full bed)
• Patient Population: Geriatric, adult, pediatrics, obstetrics
• Equipment Used: EKG, Ultrasound, LUCAS device, EZ-IO, Omnicell, stretcher, wheelchair, Medtronic
• Electronic Health Record (EHR) System: MediTech

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia
• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience, with at least some experience within the last year
• Certifications:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)
• Education: Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Job Responsibilities & Skills

• Perform patient assessments and identify patient needs
• Initiate appropriate nursing interventions based on patient condition and age
• Provide care appropriate to acute diagnostic and treatment needs
• Complete timely and accurate documentation related to medical necessity
• May be required to float to sit 1:1 with patients as needed

Dress Code

• Scrubs: Any solid color scrub top and scrub pants
• Unacceptable Attire: Ill-fitting scrubs (too loose or tight), low cut or midriff-revealing tops, see-through fabrics, hoodies, t-shirts, sweatshirts, spandex

Additional Notes

• No call requirements
• Weekend work every other weekend
• Patient care involves a variety of acute conditions across all age groups
