Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse
Location: Orange, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
- Unit: Labor and Delivery
- Facility Type: Acute Care Hospital, Magnet recognized
- Charting System: Epic
- Parking: Free
- Scrub Color: Navy Blue for RNs; L&D/OR scrubs provided
- Scheduling Notes:
- Weekends may exceed every other weekend to meet unit needs
- Scheduling requests due to outside employment will not be considered
- Travel pairs are not accepted
- Local radius for assignment is 50 miles
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
- Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- AWHONN certification
- Education: Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Preferred Experience
- Experience working in large hospital settings is highly preferred
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Background Check: Must be completed within 90 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years; includes SSN trace, death master index, nationwide sex offender check, FACIS Level 3, education verification, and others as applicable
- Education Verification: Required for nursing degree; international education requires additional documentation
- Drug Testing: 9-panel drug screen within 12 months of start (instant tests acceptable)
- Physical Exam: Within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO, indicating ability to work with or without accommodation
- Immunizations and Health Documents:
- TDAP vaccine within 10 years or signed declination
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer with acceptable alternatives
- Hepatitis B vaccination series or signed declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer with acceptable alternatives
- Seasonal flu vaccine or signed declination (required during flu season)
- COVID vaccination record preferred; declinations accepted with adherence to masking policies
- Respiratory Safety Clearance: Required annually for travel candidates, includes virtual questionnaire reviewed by healthcare professional
- Fit Mask Testing: Required annually for travel candidates, completed onsite or with valid record within 1 year
- References: Minimum of 2 references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting
- Employment Application: Must include at least last 5 years of employment with month/year format for dates worked
- Skills Checklist: Required annually for applicable unit
Training and Competency Requirements
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring): Certification required (AWHONN or NCC-EFM accepted) or completion of Fetal Heart Rate Monitoring Assessment exam in Relias
- Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam: Required as applicable
- Annual Regulatory and Specialty-Specific Modules: Must complete assigned Workramp modules annually, including regional core and specialty-specific training
Additional Notes
- Guaranteed hours may be subject to one call-off per pay period (2 weeks)
- Candidates must comply with float policy and may be required to float to other facilities within a reasonable distance
- Pending licenses or certifications are not accepted
- No travel pairs or first-time travelers allowed
- All required skills and certifications must be current and valid at time of submission
This position is ideal for experienced Labor and Delivery RNs who have prior travel contract experience and meet all certification and compliance requirements.
