Registered Nurse - Obstetrics (Night Shift)

Location: Mauston, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night Shift (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
Hours per Week: 36 (6 twelve-hour shifts within a pay period, every 3rd weekend)

Job Summary

Provide quality nursing care for maternal and newborn patients, collaborating with the care team to support patient-centered services.

Key Responsibilities

• Complete initial nursing histories and assess patient conditions.
• Develop individualized care plans for assigned patients.
• Triage patient care based on symptoms.
• Administer medications accurately.
• Assess labor progression and manage induction of labor and cervical ripening.
• Handle medical emergencies such as prolapsed cord, breech delivery, postpartum hemorrhage, precipitous delivery, uterine rupture, meconium management, abruptio placenta, and placenta previa.
• Perform and interpret fetal heart monitoring.
• Manage pregnancy-related conditions including hypertension and diabetes.
• Assess newborn condition and identify when higher-level care is needed.
• Perform neonatal resuscitation within scope of practice and certification.
• Recognize and manage neonatal sepsis.
• Monitor newborns for hypoglycemia, hypothermia, jaundice, and intervene appropriately.
• Promote patient education and involvement in newborn care.
• Alert providers promptly about changes in patient status.
• Communicate effectively with the care team.

Required Qualifications

• Registered Nurse license in Wisconsin (must hold and maintain).
• Minimum of a two-year nursing degree required; four-year degree preferred.
• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 1 month of hire.
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification within 6 months of hire.
• STABLE certification within 1 year of hire.
• Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certification within 1 year of hire.
• Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail.
• Intermediate computer proficiency.
• Comprehensive nursing skills and knowledge of equipment.
• Strong triage understanding and analytical skills.
• Excellent interpersonal communication and problem-solving abilities.

Certifications

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
• BLS/BCLS (Basic Life Support/Basic Cardiac Life Support)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)

Additional Information
