Job Opportunity: RN Labor and Delivery (Night Shift)

Location: Indianapolis, Indiana
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (13 weeks)
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM


Facility Overview

  • Level IV Women & Infants Hospital (brand new)
  • 15-bed Labor & Delivery unit
  • 20-bed High Risk Unit
  • 8-bed OB Triage

Job Description

  • Provide nursing care in Labor & Delivery, High Risk, and OB Triage units
  • Must be familiar with managing Magnesium and insulin drips
  • Advanced Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certified with advanced external fetal monitoring skills required

Required Qualifications

Licensure

  • Valid RN license in Indiana

Certifications

  • BLS issued by American Heart Association
  • ACLS
  • NRP Advanced
  • Ascension Fetal Monitoring

Education

  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience
  • Labor and Delivery experience within the last year

Other

  • Valid Driver's License

Required Assessments and Exams

  • Pharmacology Exam (minimum 80%, max 2 attempts)
  • Specialty Exam in Labor & Delivery (minimum 80% or national benchmark, max 2 attempts)
  • Core Competencies (HIPAA, Joint Commission, NPSG, OSHA topics; minimum 80%, max 2 attempts)
  • Skills Checklist for specialty (completed within one year, updated annually)
  • Unit-specific checklist (optional for onboarding)

Health and Immunization Requirements

  • Proof of two MMR vaccines or positive IGG titer (no declinations accepted)
  • Proof of two Varicella vaccines, serological immunity, or verified history (no declinations accepted)
  • Tdap vaccine valid within 10 years (no declinations accepted)
  • Hepatitis B vaccination series completion or signed declination
  • Influenza vaccine recommended during flu season (exemptions accepted with mask requirement)
  • 2-Step PPD or IGRA testing with negative chest X-ray if positive, plus annual TB questionnaire
  • Fit test for respiratory protection (preferred before start, can be done onsite)
  • Statement of good health or completed physical exam prior to assignment, updated annually
  • 12-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start, updated annually

Documentation and Onboarding Requirements

  • Professional resume/profile and at least two professional references prior to assignment
  • Driver’s license or state ID (valid, matching address requirements)
  • Criminal background check including Social Security Trace, OIG Search, National Sex Offender, and others within 90 days prior to start
  • Employment verification for past seven years
  • Education verification relevant to clinical work within 90 days prior to start
  • Signed assignment agreement and confirmation of assignment on agency letterhead
  • Badge photo (forward-facing headshot with white or blue background, no filters)
  • Completion of onboarding education attestation and nursing contract worker onboarding (done onsite)

This is a night shift, long-term assignment for an experienced Level IV Labor & Delivery RN with advanced neonatal resuscitation and fetal monitoring skills. The role requires comprehensive certifications, immunizations, and compliance with detailed onboarding and health requirements.
