Description

Respiratory Therapist - Omaha, Nebraska

Job Details

Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights
Hours: 12 hours per day, 36 hours per week
Patient Population: All ages (neonates to geriatrics)
Work Setting: Inpatient, covering all areas and floors
Scheduling: Team scheduling; weekend coverage every third day (days) and every other night; holiday rotation with permanent staff
Orientation: 3 shifts of 12 hours each, unit/department specific
Floating: Required to float to different hospital areas within RT capacity
Support: Respiratory Lead Therapist on each shift; not the only RT in-house; hospitalist or intensivist available 24/7

Required Qualifications

Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) via NBRC or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
ACLS and BLS (AHA) certifications required
Recent Level 1 or Level 2 experience required
Experience with EKGs, bedside bronchoscopies, and bedside spirometry
Driver’s license required at time of application (used to verify candidate is within 50-mile radius)
Must comply with fingernail policy: artificial nails prohibited in patient care areas

Equipment Experience

Ventilators: Drager, Servo I, Carefusion (Heliox and NICU use only)
Bipap: Vision, V60, V30, Respironics S/T
High Flow: Airvo2

Additional Information

Radius rule: Candidates must live within 50 miles and may not be currently employed full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with certain healthcare systems
Return to Office (RTO) required within 7 days of contract start; no additional RTO approvals
Key attributes for success: time management, flexibility, adaptability, communication, teamwork, and willingness to learn

Notes

The role offers variety by working with different patient care levels daily
Strong collaboration between respiratory therapists, providers, and nursing staff
