Job Opportunity: Cath Lab Registered Nurse

Location: Lafayette, Indiana
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Shift: Day shift, 4x10 hour shifts per week (7:30 AM - 6:00 PM or 6:30 AM - 5:00 PM)
  • Call Requirement: 10 call shifts per month including weekends
  • No New Year’s Eve shifts
  • First-time travelers accepted
  • Local candidates accepted

Responsibilities & Procedures

  • Strong experience with intervention and performing STEMI required
  • Comfortable using EP (Electrophysiology) devices
  • Procedures performed include:
    • Impella insertion
    • Left and Right heart catheterization
    • Rotablader
    • Pacemaker/defibrillator device placement
    • Stents
    • Thrombectomy
    • Balloon Angioplasty
    • Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI)

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Indiana
  • Minimum of 1 year of Cardiac Cath Lab experience, with recent experience within the last year
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Valid Driver’s License or Passport (clear copy)
  • Background Check within 90 days of start, including:
    • 7 years residence/work history
    • SSN Trace
    • County, Statewide, National Sex Offender, FACIS Level III checks
    • Education Verification (may be pending at start if needed)
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
  • Transcript or Diploma (official copy required; may be pending at start)
  • Employment Application covering 7 years with explanations for gaps over 30 days
  • Minimum of 2 professional references from recent employment verified within 2 years (must be from charge nurse, manager, supervisor, or above)
  • Skills Checklist completed within 12 months and annually thereafter
  • Competency exams including medication/pharmacology and unit competency exam
  • Color Blind Testing (Ishihara exam or equivalent, minimum 100% score)

Health & Safety Requirements

  • Physical exam completed within 12 months of start
  • Fit Mask (respirator) test within 12 months of start with approved respirators (3M N95 models or Honeywell N95)
  • Tuberculosis screening (PPD, QuantiFERON-TB Gold, or T-SPOT) within 1 year of start; if positive, chest X-ray within 2 years required
  • Immunizations or positive titers required for:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Varicella (no exemptions accepted)
    • Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine strongly recommended (not required)
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months of start (including amphetamines, marijuana, cocaine, opiates, PCP)
  • Seasonal Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (9/30 - 3/31)

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must complete facility-specific compliance and orientation documents prior to start
  • On-site Fit Testing is limited and requires prior approval; PAPR use requires facility approval
  • Call rotation includes weekend coverage
  • No prior travel experience required

This position is ideal for a Registered Nurse with cath lab/interventional cardiology experience seeking a 13-week travel contract with day shifts and call responsibilities in Indiana.
