Description
Registered Nurse - Emergency Department
Location: Carlsbad, New Mexico
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Days, 6:30 AM – 6:00 PM
Hours per Week: 36
Job Description
- Provide nursing care to Emergency Department patients in a Level 3 Trauma setting.
- Utilize the Nursing Process in accordance with the state Nurse Practice Act and hospital policies.
- Demonstrate critical thinking, scientific judgment, and leadership to ensure safe patient care delivery.
- Maintain clinical competencies through continuing education.
- Delegate patient care priorities based on staff education and experience.
- Provide direction and supervision to assigned personnel delivering patient care.
- Perform thorough patient assessments and communicate findings effectively.
- Administer medications and monitor for side effects.
- Adhere to safety standards, infection control, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Use MedHost (EDIS) electronic medical record system.
- Floating to other units is required.
- Call-out notice must be given at least 2 hours prior to shift start.
Patient Ratio
- 4 patients per nurse
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in New Mexico
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Current certifications in ACLS, BLS, PALS, ENPC, and TNCC
Additional Information
- Blocked scheduling and 48-hour guarantees are not approved.
- One summer and one winter holiday blackout date required, based on department needs.
- Maximum of one request time off (RTO) per schedule; scheduling is done in 6-week blocks.
- No specific scrub color required; full uniform expected.
