Description

Registered Nurse - Med/Surg Telemetry

Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
Hours per Week: 36 hours


Job Description

  • Provide nursing care on a Med/Surg Telemetry unit during night shifts.
  • Must complete ECG rhythm recognition test and medication safety exam (SafeMedicate) during orientation with passing scores.
  • One recent reference from a manager, supervisor, or director in the specialty is required to qualify for submission. Charge RN references accepted.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Ohio.
  • Minimum 1.5 years of Med Surg / Telemetry nursing experience.
  • Med Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year.
  • Current ACLS certification.
  • Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).

Onboarding & Compliance

  • Completion of facility-specific online training modules prior to start; must be done on a computer using Google Chrome.
  • Modules include mandatory training videos and tests; skipping videos will result in lockout.
  • Background checks must be current and include a 7-year FCRA-compliant search.
  • Fingerprinting must be completed within 48 hours of contract signing; facility will also conduct fingerprinting onsite.
  • Physical exam must include latex allergy notification if applicable.
  • Candidates with facial hair failing fit mask testing must shave or submit approved medical/religious exemption.
  • References must be from employment within one year of start and from a manager, supervisor, or director.
  • Employment application must include at least 3 years prior work history with 2 years in acute care in a similar specialty.

Certifications & Testing

  • BLS and ACLS certifications must be current; renew if expiring within 30 days of start.
  • NIH Stroke Scale certification must be obtained prior to start.
  • Baseline competency exams in medication administration (SafeMedicate) and ECG interpretation required at orientation; passing scores are 90% and 80% respectively.
  • Candidates with less than 6 months gap since last contract at this or affiliated facilities may be exempt from some testing requirements.

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Tdap vaccine every 10 years (no declinations accepted).
  • MMR: 2 vaccines or positive titer; booster required if titers negative or equivocal.
  • Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer; booster required if titers negative or equivocal.
  • Hepatitis B: titer, series, or declination with agency-approved exemption.
  • Seasonal flu vaccination required annually; no declinations accepted.
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray with annual updates.
  • Snellen eye exam within 1 year.

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must carry a government-issued photo ID while on assignment.
  • One recent reference from a manager, supervisor, or director in the specialty is required.
  • Candidates must be prepared to complete all onboarding modules and documentation prior to start.
  • Candidates with gaps longer than 30 days since last assignment may need to update physical and eye exams.
  • Drug screens must be standard 10-panel; instant drug screens are not accepted.

This position requires a dedicated, experienced Med/Surg Telemetry RN with strong clinical skills, current certifications, and compliance with all health and facility requirements. Night shift availability and ability to pass competency testing are essential.
