Registered Nurse - Emergency (ED/ER)

Location: Jeffersonville, Indiana
Employment Type: Clinical Nursing
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day (6:45 AM – 7:15 PM), weekends as needed
Hours per Week: 36 hours

Job Summary

• Accountable for the care of a group of patients in the Emergency Department.
• Focus on safe, effective, patient- and family-centered care, customer satisfaction, and quality outcomes.
• Responsible for assessing, developing, implementing, and evaluating patient care plans.
• Supervises licensed and non-licensed staff members.
• Applies evidence-based practice and participates in quality, safety, and service improvement efforts.
• Provides mentoring and precepting to staff.
• Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams and supports patient/family education and satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform patient assessments and reassessments; make sound independent clinical decisions.
• Initiate, prioritize, implement, and revise plans of care as needed.
• Monitor and document patient responses to clinical interventions.
• Facilitate and evaluate education tailored to patient and family needs during stay and at discharge.
• Delegate tasks appropriately and encourage teamwork.
• Participate in regulatory compliance and Practice Governance activities.

Required Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum 2 years of acute care RN experience.
• Education: Nursing Diploma or Associate’s Degree in Nursing (ASN).
• Licensure & Certifications:

  • Registered Nurse license.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support).
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support).
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support).
  • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) Certification.
• Technical Skills: Experience with Epic electronic health record system.
