Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Hagerstown, Maryland
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 18:30 - 7:00)
Hours per Week: 36
Job Description
- Work on Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum (LDRP) unit with rotation through Labor, Triage, and Mother-Baby postpartum care.
- Postpartum nurses care for 3-4 couplets; Labor nurses care for 1-2 patients.
- Must be comfortable alternating between all roles.
- Experience with OB surgical recovery (C-section) is highly preferred.
- On-call hours approximately 16-20 hours over a 6-week schedule; some staff opt to pick up extra weekend and weekday shifts instead of call.
- Weekends every other week (EOW).
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN), and Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM) certifications required.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Maryland.
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience, including experience within the last year.
- Experience in Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum (LDRP) care.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system.
Required Documents & Compliance
- Copy of Driver’s License/State ID matching state of compact license if applicable.
- Proof of E-Verify or Attestation.
- Background checks including 7-year criminal history, SS trace, counties, nationwide, sex offender registry, and federal exclusions (EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG) updated annually.
- Physical exam within 1 year of start date.
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 1 year of start date.
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start date; must be updated annually.
- Immunizations and titers:
- Tdap vaccine within 10 years.
- Negative TB test (Qgold, Tspot, or True 2-Step PPD) within 1 year; positive results require chest x-ray and TB questionnaire updated annually.
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: positive titer or 2 vaccines required; negative titers require 2 boosters 28 days apart.
- Hepatitis B: proof of positive titer, vaccination, or declination accepted.
- Seasonal flu vaccine required annually; no declinations accepted.
- NIH Stroke Certification required for all units except Pediatrics, OB, and Labor & Delivery; must be updated annually.
- Skills checklist and competency exams as applicable, updated annually.
- Proof of 2 clinical references.
- NURSYS verification as applicable.
Additional Information
- Candidates must be comfortable working in a fast-paced LDRP environment with rotating responsibilities.
- Locals are not accepted for this travel/contract position.
- Fingerprinting (Maryland CJIS/DSS/FBI) required for school placements only.
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement required.
This position is ideal for experienced Labor and Delivery nurses seeking a travel contract with a focus on comprehensive maternal and newborn care in a supportive team environment.
