Description
Medical ICU RN Travel Assignment
Location: Fort Wayne, Indiana
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Seeking a Medical ICU Registered Nurse for a travel assignment in a mixed acuity unit primarily caring for progressive care patients with some ICU patients. The position involves floating between ICU, Progressive Care Unit (PCU), and Medsurg units while maintaining appropriate nurse-to-patient ratios.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Indiana
- Critical Care Float experience with a minimum of 1.5 years, including experience within the last year
- ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Work Schedule
- Three 12-hour shifts per week (36 hours total)
- Evening shift (3pm - 3am)
- Traditional weekday plus weekend rotation
- Will not work alone
Unit Details
- Mixed acuity unit with 24 Medical ICU beds and 12 Progressive Care beds
- Nurse-to-patient ratios:
- Progressive Care: 1:3 (up to 1:4 with transfers or medical patients)
- ICU: 1:2 (up to 1:3 with transfers or medical patients)
- Floating to all ICU, PCU, and Medsurg units with a maximum 1:3 ratio
Patient Population & Procedures
- Care for critically ill patients with diagnoses including sepsis, respiratory failure (acute and chronic), renal failure (acute and chronic), myocardial infarctions, pulmonary embolism, and pneumonia
- Use of equipment such as Phillips heart monitors, Epic EMR, Pyxis, EKG machines, and dopplers
- Responsibilities include monitoring ventilated patients, titrating IV drips, assisting with intubations and line placements
Orientation & Training
- 8 hours of non-billable orientation
- Onboarding includes policy review and Epic training/access
- One day of unit-specific onboarding
Dress Code
- Caribbean blue scrubs
- Jackets must be black, white, or Caribbean blue
- Undershirts (short or long sleeve) must be black or white
Additional Notes
- Local clinicians within 50 miles may be eligible for a rate adjustment
- Client may cancel assignment up to 24 hours in advance
- Candidates should communicate any required time off during the assignment in advance
