Registered Nurse (RN) - Operating Room (OR) - Travel

Location: Summit, New Jersey
Contract Length: 8 weeks
Shift: Day (7:00 AM – 8:00 PM)
Hours: 12 hours per day, 36 hours per week

Job Summary

Provide perioperative nursing care for surgical patients, including pre-operative and postoperative assessment and education. Deliver competent clinical care across the surgical continuum, supporting major specialties such as orthopedics, neurology, vascular, and robotic surgeries. Participate in circulating and scrubbing duties as needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform thorough, systematic assessments of patients from pediatric to geriatric populations.
• Deliver direct patient care and support the patient care team in a collaborative environment.
• Maintain accurate and complete documentation of nursing processes and patient progress, including patient education.
• Follow National Patient Safety Goals, including use of two patient identifiers and safe transfer/body mechanics techniques.
• Individualize patient care based on surgical procedure and anesthesia type.
• Educate patients and families on surgical procedures and post-operative care.
• Support timely completion and evaluation of Pre Admission Testing (PAT) orders.
• Demonstrate professionalism, adherence to policies, and commitment to clinical and professional growth.
• Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Jersey
• Minimum 1 year of Operating Room (OR) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Ability to circulate and scrub in orthopedic, neurosurgery, vascular, and robotic surgical specialties
• Experience in orthopedic surgery
• Experience in neurosurgery
• Experience in vascular surgery
