Job Opportunity: RN CVOR

Location: Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
Shift: 06:50 AM – 03:20 PM, Monday to Friday, 8-hour shifts


Job Description

  • Provide care in Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) with a minimum of 2 years CVOR experience required.
  • Perform general surgical cases when no cardiovascular cases are scheduled.
  • Utilize EPIC electronic health record system.
  • May be required to float onsite within skill set or to other nearby sites within 40 miles as needed.
  • Call and holiday call hours based on department needs.
  • Prior travel experience is required.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Wisconsin in good standing with verification via Nursys within 30 days prior to start.
  • Minimum 2 years of CVOR specialty experience, with CVOR experience within the last year.
  • One completed travel assignment.
  • BLS and ACLS certifications issued by the American Heart Association.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing.
  • Current Driver’s License.
  • Experience with EPIC electronic health record system.

Onboarding and Compliance Requirements

  • Completion of specialty competency exams including:
    • Specialty exam with minimum 80% passing score (updated every 3 years).
    • EKG exam with minimum 80% passing score (updated every 3 years).
    • Core competencies covering HIPAA, Joint Commission, OSHA, and other regulatory topics (updated every 3 years).
  • EPIC test-out and training checklist with signed attestation.
  • Color vision test (updated every 3 years).
  • Fit test for respiratory protection (preferred prior to start, can be completed onsite; updated annually).
  • Health statement or physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually.
  • Immunization and health documentation including:
    • MMR (two vaccines or positive titer; no declinations accepted).
    • Varicella immunity or vaccination (no declinations accepted).
    • Tdap vaccine valid within 10 years (no declinations accepted).
    • Hepatitis B vaccination series completion or signed declination.
    • Influenza vaccine recommended during flu season (exemptions accepted with mask requirement).
    • Tuberculosis screening: 2-step PPD or IGRA within required timeframes, chest X-ray if positive, and annual TB questionnaire.
  • 12-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start and annually thereafter.
  • Criminal background check including Social Security trace, OIG search, National Sex Offender registry, and other required screenings within 90 days prior to start and annually thereafter.
  • Employment and education verifications completed within 90 days prior to start and updated as required.
  • Professional references: at least two required prior to first assignment.
  • Driver’s license or state ID current and matching address requirements.

Additional Notes

  • Must complete onboarding requirements including signed assignment agreement, badge photo, and education attestations.
  • Some optional checklists may be required by unit leadership post-onboarding.
  • Assignments may require flexibility to work at multiple nearby sites.

This position is ideal for experienced CVOR RNs with prior travel assignments who are comfortable working in a dynamic surgical environment and meeting comprehensive credentialing and compliance standards.
