Job Opportunity: Surgical Unit Nurse (Night Shift)

Location: Janesville, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Contract (13 weeks)
Shift: Nights (6:30 PM – 7:00 AM)
Hours per Week: 36

Job Overview

• Primarily assigned to an Adult Surgical Unit with occasional Pediatric patients.
• May require floating to other units as a travel nurse.
• Work schedule includes every other weekend and holiday shifts.
• 12-hour shifts during night hours.

Key Responsibilities

• Utilize the nursing process and collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to provide patient care.
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments following approved nursing techniques, policies, standards of care, and state laws.
• Document patient care according to standards.
• Develop and execute individualized patient care plans, including patient and family education.
• Participate in department or unit performance improvement activities, including shared governance.
• Provide clinical expertise and guidance to other units/departments to support patient care continuity.
• Apply critical thinking to ensure patient safety and experience, escalating issues appropriately.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Wisconsin
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Minimum of 1 year of Med Surg nursing experience, with recent experience within the last year
• Certification in NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
• BLS certification

• This position is suitable for experienced nurses comfortable with adult surgical care and occasional pediatric patients.
• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required but flexibility to float to other units is expected.
