Job Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for protecting, promoting, and optimizing health and abilities, preventing illness and injury, and alleviating suffering through diagnosis, treatment, and advocacy. The RN ensures compliance with nursing standards and promotes a patient-centered, caring, and healing environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, delegate, coordinate, implement, and evaluate nursing care for a group of patients.
• Serve as primary or accountable nurse based on unit assignment.
• Educate patients and families on health promotion and disease management.
• Administer medications safely with knowledge of pharmacology.
• Manage resources effectively, including staffing and supplies.
• Comply with nursing practice standards and regulatory requirements.
• Participate in nursing governance, improvement initiatives, and peer review.
• Engage in professional development and complete mandatory education.
• Integrate nursing research and evidence-based practice.
• Support learning for new employees and students.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York State.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU), including experience within the last year.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Experience in management roles.
• Experience with cardiac telemetry and Med Surg nursing.
• Experience with transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), Watchman devices, mitral clips, heart catheterizations, and pre-op and post-op open heart care.
• Proficient in administering cardiac intravenous (IV) and oral (PO) medications.
• Experience administering cardiac drips at a flat rate, including cardizem, amiodarone, dobutamine, lidocaine, milrinone, heparin, and insulin.
• Experience managing anticoagulants.
• Skilled in managing patients with congestive heart failure (CHF), chest pain (CP), arrhythmias, NSTEMI, STEMI, pulmonary embolism (PE), post-op coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) greater than 3 days, sepsis, pneumonia (PNA), stroke, and observation patients.
• Experience using TR band and groin management, including managing related complications.
• Experience with telemetry monitoring.
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
• Professional certification in a related nursing specialty.
• Additional relevant certifications such as PALS or TNCC.
• Previous clinical nursing experience in acute care or ambulatory settings.

Shift & Hours

• Day shift.
• 12-hour shifts.
• 36 hours per week.
• Every other weekend schedule.

Contract Length

• 13 weeks.
