Registered Nurse - NICU
Location: San Diego, California
Employment Type: Travel Nursing
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 12-hour day shifts
Hours per Week: 36
Job Summary
Provide individualized, safe, and therapeutic nursing care to neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) patients and their families. Collaborate with healthcare team members to manage complex and high-risk clinical situations, advocate for patients and families, and promote quality outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive nursing assessments and document patient and family needs.
- Develop, implement, and adapt individualized, age- and culturally-appropriate care plans using the nursing process.
- Evaluate patient and family progress toward goals and adjust care plans as needed.
- Identify and address patient and family educational needs through tailored teaching plans.
- Serve as a patient and family advocate, encouraging participation in decision-making and upholding rights.
- Communicate care needs and patient status clearly through documentation and interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Delegate and assign care tasks within team members’ scope of practice.
- Coordinate and integrate care with other healthcare professionals to support patient well-being and workflow efficiency.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum of 2 years of recent experience in Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), including experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
Additional Information
- Experience with patient care, nursing process, patient assessment, care planning, therapeutic care, quality outcomes, patient advocacy, documentation, educational planning, adult learning theory, interdisciplinary collaboration, delegation, and coordination of care is essential.
