    Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse

    Location: Orange, California
    Employment Type: Travel/Contract
    Contract Length: 13 weeks


    Job Details

    • Specialty: Registered Nurse (Labor and Delivery)
    • Shift: 3x12 hour day shifts (07:00 - 19:30)
    • Schedule: Weekends may exceed every other weekend to accommodate unit needs
    • Start Date: ASAP
    • Facility Type: Acute Care Hospital, Magnet recognized
    • Charting System: Epic
    • Parking: Free

    Requirements/Qualifications

    • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California
    • Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience, including experience within the last year
    • Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association or Heart & Stroke Foundation
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
    • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

    Required Certifications

    • AWHONN Intermediate (required)
    • AWHONN Advanced (preferred)

    Background and Compliance Requirements

    • Background check within 90 days of start covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years; must be updated annually
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated monthly
    • Education verification required for nursing degree
    • Drug screening: 9-panel drug screen within 12 months of start (instant acceptable)
    • Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
    • Immunizations and health documents required:
      • TDAP (within 10 years, declination accepted)
      • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
      • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
      • Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
      • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
      • Seasonal flu vaccine during flu season or declination
      • COVID vaccination record preferred (declinations not required)
    • Respiratory safety clearance required annually for respirator use (travel only)
    • Fit mask testing required annually (travel only)

    Competency and Training Requirements

    • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable
    • Annual regulatory and specialty-specific training modules via LMS (Workramp)
    • Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification or successful completion of fetal heart rate monitoring assessment exam required for all L&D RNs
    • Skills checklist updated annually

    Additional Requirements

    • Minimum of 2 professional references covering at least 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting within the last 3 years
    • Employment application covering at least the last 5 years of employment with explanations for any gaps or overlaps
    • Passport-style badge photo with neutral background required before start
    • Float policy acknowledgment required; may be required to float to other nearby facilities

    Notes

    • Facility may call off once per pay period (2 weeks)
    • Guaranteed hours subject to facility discretion
    • No pending licenses accepted
    • Prior travel experience is required (no first-time travelers)

    This position is ideal for experienced Labor and Delivery RNs who meet all certification and licensing requirements and are ready to work in a fast-paced, large hospital setting.
