Registered Nurse (RN) - PACU

Location: Beckley, West Virginia

Call Requirements: 1 night per week, 1 weekend per month

Job Summary

• Provide nursing care in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) with a 1:1 patient ratio.
• Serve a diverse patient population of all ages.
• Work in a facility with 7 operating rooms and standard critical care equipment.
• Float interdepartmentally as needed.
• Use Meditech electronic health record system.
• Collaborate effectively within a team-oriented environment.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in West Virginia.
• Minimum 1 year of recent experience in Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU).
• Experience in OB/GYN, Vascular Surgery, Orthopedic Surgery, and Urology.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Current certifications prior to start:

  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)

Preferred Experience

• Experience in ICU, Emergency Room (ER), and PACU settings.

Work Environment & Culture

• Collaborative team environment with emphasis on effective communication.
• Dress code requires hospital-supplied scrubs and proper OR attire; casual or other facility-branded attire is not allowed.

Additional Information

• Orientation occurs biweekly on Wednesdays.
• Candidates must be located 60 miles or more from the facility to qualify as travel staff.
• Facility is accredited by the Joint Commission.
• The hospital treats a high volume of patients annually and offers various surgical services including trauma and emergency care.
• The unit supports nursing and allied health student instructional programs.
