Registered Nurse - Cardiovascular Surgery (Travel)

Unit Information
- Operating Room with 11 rooms
- Staff includes 30 total: Day shift has 1 Charge RN, 10 RNs, 10 CSTs, 2 schedulers, 3 anesthesia techs, and 2 orderlies
- Shift details:
- Day shift: 5 RNs work 10-hour shifts, 5 CSTs work 10-hour shifts
- Night shift (3pm-11pm): 1 RN and 1 CST
- Patient ratio: 1:1
- EMR system: Expanse
Typical Procedures
- Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG) with or without valves
- Pericardial Window
- Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) and endovascular AAA repair
- ECMO support
- Convergent Maze procedure
- Impella (balloon pump)
- Fistula creation
- Various bypass surgeries
- Endarterectomy (carotid or femoral)
- Video-Assisted Thoracoscopic Surgery (VATS) – robotic, laparoscopic, or open
- Robotic Esophagectomy
- Below Knee Amputation (BKA) or Above Knee Amputation (AKA)
- Temporal artery bypass
- Thrombectomy/embolectomy
- Insertion or removal of peritoneal dialysis catheter
Required Skills and Experience
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
- Minimum 1 year of Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Cardiovascular (CV) surgical experience
- Ability to perform vascular cases
- Ability to perform robotic cases
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification
Certifications and Licenses
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license for Texas
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- CNOR certification is a plus but not required
Work Environment and Expectations
- Floating only within the Surgery Department
- Case load may include general surgery, ortho, ENT, gynecology, podiatry, urology, plastic surgery, pain management, and ophthalmology
- Call schedule:
- Weekday call starts at the end of shift and continues until 7am the next morning
- Weekend call is 24 hours
- Dress code: Navy blue scrubs for RNs
- Personality fit: Hardworking, flexible, team-oriented, and willing to assist wherever needed
