Registered Nurse – Emergency Department

Job Summary

Provide direct patient care in a Level 2 Trauma Center and Level 1 Comprehensive Stroke Center emergency department. Care for patients post-trauma, surgical interventions, and with medical comorbidities. Coordinate patient care with ancillary departments and maintain professional accountability in accordance with nursing standards and state regulations.

Work Schedule

• Shift: Night (1800-0600)
• Weekly Hours: 36 or 48 (must be specified on submission)
• Weekend Hours: Every third weekend or as required
• Call: None
• Orientation: Night shift nurses orient on day shift; availability for full week orientation required

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Missouri
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department experience, including trauma experience
• Emergency Department experience within the last year

Job Responsibilities

• Perform nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care
• Provide care for all age groups in the emergency setting
• Maintain patient rights and confidentiality
• Evaluate effectiveness of care provided by self and others
• Coordinate care with other departments
• Float to similar or lower acuity units as needed
• Adhere to facility mission, values, and service standards

Physical and Mental Requirements

• Stand and walk most of the shift
• Frequent bending, stooping, lifting, and turning patients with assistance
• Ability to push, pull, grip up to 50 lbs., pinch up to 15 lbs., kneel, crouch, and crawl minimally
• Exposure to blood and body fluids
• Flexibility to work varying schedules and shifts based on patient care needs

Additional Requirements

• Flu vaccination required from November 1 through April 1; declinations not accepted
• Dress code: Black scrubs only; no other attire permitted
