Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse
Location: Camden, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (Operating Room)
- Shift: Day shift, 5 days a week, 8 hours per day (6:45 AM – 3:15 PM)
- Weekend Requirement: Typically every 4th weekend, with weekday coverage
- On-Call: Yes, weekday call from 3 PM to 7 AM on a rotating basis; not every weekday
- Floating: Required to float within scope to meet facility needs, including between like units or sister facilities
- Guaranteed Hours: Facility may call off 1 shift every 2 weeks

Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in South Carolina
- Minimum 4 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including OR experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association
Health and Safety Requirements
- Annual physical exam within 90 days of start, confirming ability to work without restrictions
- Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold) within 90 days of start or appropriate follow-up if positive
- Annual TB questionnaire completion required
- Immunizations or positive titers required for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Varicella
- Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination form)
- Tdap vaccination within 10 years or declination form required
- Seasonal flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Aug 1 – Mar 31)
- COVID-19 vaccination highly preferred; if declined, must complete vaccination declination form
- 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
- Annual respirator medical clearance (RespSafety questionnaire) required
Documentation and Compliance
- Copy of Driver’s License and Social Security Card required
- Education verification and diploma/transcripts preferred as placeholder if needed
- Background check within 90 days of start, including:
- SSN trace
- Statewide and national criminal checks
- Sex offender registry
- FACIS 3 and international searches if applicable
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
- NURSYS license verification required for all RNs
- Primary source license verification confirming active, unencumbered status with no pending actions
- Photo for badge: passport-style, frontal view, solid light background, no hats or sunglasses
Orientation and Facility Specifics
- Completion of First Day Instructions (FDI) and OurDay modules prior to start (2-6 hours depending on location)
- Upload COVID and flu vaccine documentation into OurDay platform
- Completion of facility-specific confidentiality, security agreements, and contractor forms prior to start
- Job description must be reviewed and signed prior to start
- NetID form must be completed and returned within 24-48 hours of contract signing to avoid delays
- Fit testing for masks will be done onsite during orientation
Additional Notes
- Prior travel experience is not accepted for first-time travelers; must have completed at least one prior travel contract
- Local candidates may be considered on a case-by-case basis
- During hurricane season (June–November), all staff may be assigned to emergency response teams; new or extended assignments during this time are discouraged if this is a concern
