Description
Registered Nurse - Emergency Department
Location: Lewiston, Maine
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Facility & Unit Overview
- Level 2 Trauma Center with 4 critical care bays
- Emergency Department (ED) with 36 guaranteed hours per week
- No call requirements
- Patient population ranges from pediatrics to geriatrics (pediatric patients approximately 5%)
- Patient ratio: 1 nurse to 4 patients
- Equipment includes ultrasound, bladder scanner, neuro tele computer, and handheld Care Aware devices
- Electronic Health Records (EHR): Omnicell, EPIC, SBAR
- Teleneurology support for stroke in cooperation with a major hospital
- No Pediatric ICU; pediatric critical patients are transferred out
Schedule & Work Details
- Shift: 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
- Weekend hours: No guaranteed weekends off, but efforts made to provide a fair schedule
- Travelers are required to float to ED holding area
- Scrub color: Navy Blue
- No travel pairs accepted
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Maine
- Minimum 2 years of experience as an RN in Emergency Department, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Certifications required:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
