Echo Tech / Cardiac Sonographer - Travel/Contract

Location: Oakland, California
Shift: Day shift, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (5 days a week, 40 hours/week)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Perform 2-D M-mode and cardiac Doppler, exercise echocardiography, and transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) procedures.
• Assist in preparation of contrast studies.
• Perform clerical duties including entering charges for services and preparing reports.
• Provide coverage every other weekend on a rotational basis.
• No on-call required.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience as an Echo Technologist, with experience within the last year.
• Prior travel experience required.
• Certification:

  • Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) or Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS).

Background and Compliance Requirements

• 7-year background check required within 6 months of start, including SSN trace with all aliases, county searches, nationwide sex offender search, education verification, and motor vehicle report if applicable.
• FACIS Level 3 screening required within 2 weeks of start and monthly thereafter.
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required and updated annually.
• Education verification required unless highest education is high school.
• Sex offender search must be run within 90 days of start.
• Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids due to CA law).
• Physical exam within 1 year of start, including clearance for work.
• Fit mask test within 1 year of start, renewed annually (with accommodations for religious exemptions or failed tests).
• Immunizations and titers required:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or lifetime with booster).
  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity or vaccination.
  • Hepatitis B series or declination.
  • Varicella immunity or vaccination.
  • Seasonal flu vaccination during flu season (Nov 1 – Apr 30) or signed declination.
• Negative TB test (QGold or TSPOT within 90 days) or 2-step PPD; annual renewal required.
• Respiratory safety clearance required annually (not required for some non-clinical roles).

Documentation and Orientation

• Must review and sign facility-specific documents prior to start, including:

  • Job description acknowledgment
  • Standards of business conduct
  • Confidentiality agreements
  • HIPAA agreement
  • Code of conduct and vendor training (updated for 2024 and 2025 contracts)
  • TB questionnaire signed by candidate and healthcare provider (MD, PA, NP/APN, DO, or RN)
• Complete facility orientation booklet and post-test.

Employment History and References

• Full 7 years of work history required on application with no gaps; must include city and state for all locations worked.
• Employment verification for up to 7 years required; gaps over 30 days must be explained.
• Two professional references required for clinical and allied health candidates (within 3 years).

Additional Notes

• Candidate must be able to provide all required certifications and clearances prior to start.
• Religious exemptions for immunizations and fit mask may be considered with appropriate documentation and approval.
• No on-call duties; weekend coverage every other weekend on rotation.

This position is ideal for experienced Echocardiographers/Cardiac Sonographers with prior travel contract experience seeking a 13-week assignment on a day shift in California.
