Job Opportunity: Oncology Registered Nurse
Location: West Hollywood, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Provide ambulatory oncology nursing care with chemotherapy knowledge.
- Triage and call post-operative patients, requiring hepatobiliary and surgical experience.
- Work schedule: Monday to Friday, five 8-hour day shifts (approx. 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM).
- No weekend, floating, or on-call requirements.
- Scheduling requests cannot be accommodated.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in California.
- Minimum 2 years of oncology experience, including oncology experience within the last year.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- Hepatobiliary experience.
- Surgical experience.
Certifications & Competencies
- BLS (Basic Life Support) required.
- Chemotherapy certification preferred.
- Medication and pharmacology competency exams required (minimum 80% passing score).
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam may be required depending on unit.
- Pass/fail EKG and medication tests during orientation.
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year confirming ability to meet essential job functions.
- Fit mask test within 1 year, updated annually (N95 or equivalent).
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year; if history of positive TB, additional documentation required.
- Up-to-date immunizations or titers for:
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B
- Varicella
- Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (Nov 1 - Mar 31). Declinations not accepted.
- Drug screening panel within 1 year excluding Marijuana/THC.
Background & Documentation
- Government-issued photo ID required.
- 7-panel criminal background check within 6 months of start, updated annually.
- Highest applicable education verification required.
- Two professional references required, at least one supervisory.
- Photo for facility badge required; must meet strict guidelines (passport-style photo).
Additional Notes
- No scheduling flexibility.
- Onboarding includes orientation with required competency assessments and certifications.
- Fire safety card training provided onsite during orientation.
- Candidates must sign facility-specific policies including code of conduct, job hazard analysis, social media policy, and attendance policy.
This position is ideal for experienced ambulatory oncology RNs with chemotherapy expertise who are ready for a structured travel assignment without weekend or on-call duties.
