Description

NICU RN

Location

  • Bismarck, North Dakota

Contract Length

  • 13 weeks

Shift

  • Nights, 12-hour shifts

Schedule

  • Every other weekend or every third weekend
  • 2 holidays per year
  • Open to day/night rotation if needed by the unit

Unit Details

  • Level III NICU
  • 22 beds
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:2-3, or 1:4 for more stable feeder-grower patients
  • Most babies are not on telemetry
  • Charge nurse takes assignments
  • No routine patient care tech coverage unless the unit is busy

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in North Dakota
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • NICU - Neonatal Intensive Care (2 years of experience)
  • NICU - Neonatal Intensive Care experience within the last year
  • BLS
  • NRP
  • Ability to titrate drips

Clinical Experience

  • Level III or IV NICU experience preferred
  • Experience with deliveries under 36 weeks
  • Experience with common NICU conditions such as RDS, SGA, prematurity, hypoglycemia, bilirubin issues, IUGR, and infants 23 weeks and older
  • Experience with intubation, bubble CPAP, central lines, and titratable medications

Responsibilities

  • Attend deliveries under 36 weeks to assist with APGARs
  • Float to newborn nursery and pediatrics as needed

Orientation

  • 2 shifts of unit-specific orientation

Additional Notes

  • Hospital-provided scrubs
  • RTO must be submitted upfront; additional RTO will not be approved
  • Radius rule applies: 50 miles
