Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - PCU (Night Shift)

  • 12 hours per shift
  • Total 48 hours per week

Unit Information

  • Cardiac and Medical Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
  • True ICU Stepdown environment
  • Patient care includes heart catheterizations, BiPAP, cardiac and vasoactive drips (Levo, Dopa, Nitro, Cardizem, Amio)
  • PCU Crisis Criteria applies

Required Experience

  • Minimum 18 months of Registered Nurse experience in specialty
  • First-time travelers accepted
  • Prior travel experience not required

Required Certifications

  • ACLS (AHA only, RQI acceptable)
  • BLS (AHA only, RQI acceptable)
  • NIH Stroke Certification preferred
  • Telemetry skills required
  • IV Start, Cardiac & Vasoactive drips, BiPAP, and High Flow Oxygen experience required
  • Level I, II, III, or IV PCU experience required
  • Ventilator experience, Charge Nurse experience, and Conscious Sedation preferred

Work Requirements

  • Weekend work required
  • Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
  • Clinician may float within scope to meet facility needs
  • Local candidates not accepted
  • Pending license not accepted; must have Indiana state license and required certifications in hand before start

Schedule & Hours

  • Guaranteed hours:
    • 8 or 10-hour shifts totaling 40 hours/week, or
    • 3 shifts of 12 hours totaling 36 hours/week, or
    • 4 shifts of 12 hours totaling 48 hours/week (this job is 4x12 hour shifts)

  • 194 staffed beds
  • Charting system: Cerner
  • Parking: Free
  • Scrub color: Red top, black bottoms

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Valid Indiana RN license verified online within 30 days before start
  • Background checks including 7 years of residence/work history, SSN trace, county/state/national checks, and education verification
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months of start
  • Physical exam within 12 months of start
  • Fit mask test within 12 months of start (N95 or approved respirators)
  • Immunizations and titers required:
    • TB test within 1 year of start (PPD, QuantiFERON-TB Gold, or T-SPOT)
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; no declinations accepted
    • Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; no declinations accepted
    • Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination required
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap preferred but not required
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (9/30 - 3/31)
  • Competency exams including medication/pharmacology and unit competency exam required
  • Color blindness testing (Ishihara or equivalent) required with minimum 100% score
  • References: Minimum 2 from recent employment with supervisory titles, verified within 2 years
  • Current employment application with explanation of any gaps over 30 days in last 7 years
  • Skills checklist completed within 12 months and annually
  • Completion of facility-specific compliance and orientation documents prior to start

  • Cardiac PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience
  • Cardiac PCU - Progressive Care Unit (1.5 years of experience)
  • Cardiac PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
  • ACLS
  • BLS issued by American Heart Association
  • PALS
  • Cardiac & Vasoactive drips
  • BiPAP
