Job Opportunity: Cardiac Tele Registered Nurse

Location: Kalamazoo, Michigan
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Work in a Cardiac Short Stay unit caring for patients pre- and post-cardiovascular line (CVL) procedures.
  • Unit operates 24/7 to support patient throughput.
  • Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (6:00 AM – 6:30 PM, Day shift).
  • Guaranteed 36 hours per week.
  • Weekend requirement: every other weekend.
  • Holiday requirement: must work 2 out of 3 holidays.
  • Floating to other units as needed.
  • No call requirements.
  • Charting system: Cerner Powerchart.
  • Competency required in venous sheath pulls.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Michigan.
  • Telemetry experience within the last year.
  • Cardiology experience.
  • Certifications required:
    • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) issued by the American Heart Association
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association
    • National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
  • Competency with venous sheath pulls.

Background and Compliance Requirements

  • Background check covering the last 7 years of residence and employment in all states lived/worked; must be completed within 90 days of start.
  • Education verification or copy of diploma/transcripts required.
  • Physical exam required.
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start (2-step PPD or Q-gold accepted; T-spot not accepted).
  • Required immunizations or titers with boosters if low:
    • Measles (Rubeola)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Varicella
    • Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required prior to assignment start; documentation must be on file by December 15.
  • Negative 12-panel drug screen within 30 days of start, including amphetamines, cannabinoids, MDMA, methamphetamines, buprenorphine, oxycodone, fentanyl, cocaine, methadone, tramadol, benzodiazepines, and morphine (or opiates).
  • Fit mask testing required within one year of assignment start and must not expire during assignment; if unable to pass, PAPR training provided.

Additional Information

  • Onboarding includes completion of 70-80 online modules (~8-10 hours) prior to start; candidates are paid for 8 hours of module completion.
  • Facility requires a clear, passport-style photo for badge issuance.
  • Confidentiality and non-disclosure agreement must be signed before starting.
  • Various medical and vaccine exemption forms are required if applicable.
